Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the oxidized LDL Test. I have been working with Mercodia in Sweden that created the oxidized LDL test for years. In addition to the "true oxidized LDL" test, our cardiac panel offers oxidized LDL, oxidized LDL-to-HDL ratio, hsCRP (C Reactive Protein), Total Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, vLDL, ApoA1, ApoB, Triglycerides, homocysteine, and vitamin D; all for one low price.

We provide the "rea oxidized LDL test" in a complete cardiac panel here in Southern California. The oxidized LDL test is the same reagent from the company in Sweden, the TRUE oxidized LDL test in which Nina Johnson study used as mentioned in Dr. McNamara's blog post. We offer a "full cardiac panel," beyond just oxidized LDL, HDL, and hsCRP. We also include Total Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, vLDL, ApoA1, ApoB, Triglycerides, Oxidized LDL, Oxidized LDL-to-HDL Ratio, Homocysteine, and Vitamin D; all for one low price. The value is having a full cardiac panel, providing more information than just a few markers. If you are interested in ordering this test, please call Molly Fini at 949-463-3607, or email me at MollyRFini@gmail.com.

Great article! Shiel Medical Laboratory has been performing the Oxidized LDL test and the Oxidized LDL Triple Marker test (OxLDL, HDL and hsCRP with a patient risk stratification) for seven years now. The test was brought to our attention by Harold Bates, PhD., who assisted in collating data for Nina Johnston's study published in AJC, March 2006. We have exhibited at AHA and ACC Scientific Sessions for the past six years. Many physicians and researchers we meet at Scientific Sessions have known about the existence of Oxidized LDL and its' role in the atherosclerotic disease process for years but were unaware their was a clinical laboratory running the test on an automated platform. We are detecting 50% more patients with Cardiovascular Disease than the traditional lipid panel and helping to improve patient outcomes. Thank you for giving this test the recognition it deserves.

Sara,
I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's condition. Based on your description she may be suffering from autoimmune response, which may be responsible for a variety of psychiatric symptoms. I strongly suggest t cleaning out her diet. And be her role model in that as well. Take her off sugars, gluten, diary. Start cooking everything from scratch at home using organic fresh ingredients. Too many prepared/processed/packaged foods in the US contain MSGs and GMO. MSGs are powerfull excitotoxins that destroy your brain and they are masked by rather innocuous terms, such as vegetable protein. Supplementation also helps. Fish oil, as suggested by Dr. McNamara is powerful anti infamatory. Vitamin B3 (niacin) and magnesium citrate may also help to quiet down violent episodes. Lack of good intestine bacteria is also linked to neurological disorders, so you may want to consider giving her broad spectrum of probiotics as well. And stay away from any additional vaccinations. Aside form mercury, aluminum and other junks in vaccines, they introduce viruses to the body triggering more autoimmune response.
Best wishes,
Dina

I am sorry to hear of your daughter's situation. It sounds like she needs further help, and unfortunately, I cannot give you/her medical advice. Any addition, or increase in lithium would have to be discussed with her doctor. I'm sure you know how important a quality fish oil would be to support brain health, and in cases like this it may take 8,000 mg/day of fish oil. That may not be the solution to her situation, but it might be considered. I wish I had more suggestions for you. My best!

Dr. Nawab at UCLA did excellent work on ox-hdl and I did meet him on several occasions to discuss his theory on ox-lipids. My interest was also ox-lipids and we did make a large panel of monoclonal antibodies against all forms of ox-lipids(hdl,ldl,has, etc). I have retired now but agree with what you are saying. There should be such tests available for cardiologists to compare results on both type of tests.
